Utilize these smartphone safety tips to feel confident when making digital banking transactions

From instant communication to navigation, entertainment and productivity, smartphones have revolutionized the way we interact with the world. Moreover, the integration of digital banking services has further solidified their significance. Because smartphones have turned financial management into a matter of a few taps, it's essential to ensure that your phone is secure to protect your sensitive information. Here are ways to boost your smartphone’s security and help keep your financial transactions secure.

Keep your operating system and apps up to date. Regularly updating your smartphone's operating system and applications is crucial for security. Updates will often include security patches and bug fixes that address vulnerabilities. Enable automatic updates or check for updates manually to ensure you have the latest security enhancements.

Set strong passwords. Protect your smartphone with a strong password, PIN or pattern lock. Avoid using guessable combinations or personal information like birthdays or pet names. Additionally, take advantage of biometric authentication options such as fingerprint or facial recognition, which provide an extra layer of security.

Enable two-factor authentication. Two-factor authentication adds an extra level of security to your device by requiring you to provide an additional verification code or confirm your identity through another trusted device, reducing the risk of unauthorized access to your accounts.

Be cautious of app downloads. Only download applications from official app stores like Google Play or Apple Store. Be cautious of third-party app sources as they may contain malicious software. Read reviews, check the app's permissions and verify the developer's credibility before installing any new app on your smartphone.

Utilize secure Wi-Fi networks. When accessing digital banking, ensure you are connected to a trusted network or have a secure Wi-Fi connection. Public Wi-Fi networks may be vulnerable to hacking attempts. Whenever possible, use a trusted network or consider utilizing a Virtual Private Network (VPN) for an added layer of encryption and privacy.

Be mindful of phishing attempts. Stay vigilant against phishing attempts that aim to trick you into revealing sensitive information. Avoid clicking on suspicious links or providing personal or financial details through email or text message. Credit Human will never ask for your sensitive information over the phone.

Regularly review your bank statements and account activity. Monitor your bank statements and account activity regularly to detect any unauthorized transactions. If you notice any discrepancies or suspicious activity, report them immediately. Timely action can prevent further unauthorized access to your accounts.

Turn on digital banking notifications. Enabling digital banking notifications offers a crucial layer of protection against financial fraud. By receiving real-time alerts for every transaction, you can swiftly identify any unauthorized activity and take immediate action to minimize potential damage.

How to sign up for digital banking notifications:
    1. Log into your Credit Human digital banking account.

    2. Within the More Menu, click on Alerts.
    3. Within Subscription Alerts, setup desired Alerts.

Protecting your smartphone from potential threats ensures the safety of your sensitive financial information. At Credit Human, we are committed to providing a secure digital banking experience.
